Inclusion Town Hall Update

The Inclusion Committee has been busy in the background gathering information, consulting professionals in this field and working on the format for the upcoming Inclusion Town Hall.

This session will be virtual to accommodate the widest audience and recorded for those unable to attend on the day. We sent a link with the current Inclusion Policies for Kindle Arts Society (https://kindlearts.ca/publications/) and invite anyone with suggestions for improvement or questions to bring them to the Town Hall or email: Inclusion@KindleArts.ca

We’re looking forward to having a deeper dive and open discussion on inclusion and what it means for our local Burner community on Saturday, April 19th, 2025 from 1 to 3 PM.

Meeting links to come soon!

Production Updates

Production volunteer leads met to discuss upcoming changes to the venue, theme ideas, and other planning considerations. Laketown is updating their policies for events in excess of 1000 people. We have been in negotiations to acquire an upstairs parking lot from the non-event space.

Production reviewed and endorsed our longstanding amateur arts policy (and our tax exemption from continuing to operate as an amateur arts event), adding funding support to BC Rangers, and fully supports the discussion at the AGM of acquiring a trailer for storage and transport to save storage costs and reduce the workload on volunteers.

Details to come about how you can be involved and help make this possible!
Funding Opportunities

Production also reviewed upcoming opportunities for provincial funding for Kindle Arts & Otherworld.

If you live in the CVRD, and especially Lake Cowichan and Youbou, let us know.

If you think Otherworld is great and want to help send a note of appreciation about Otherworld, please contact us at info@kindlearts.ca

There are still a few team lead and other unique production roles that still need to be filled on our Otherworld org chart:

  • Gate – lead/co-leads
  • Parking – lead/co-leads
  • Volunteer Desk — lead/co-leads
  • Night Desk — lead/co-leads
  • Roads & Byways – lead/co-leads
  • Leave No Trace (LNT) – lead/co-leads
  • Lost & Flailed (during and post-event)
  • Document Production & Printing (pdf work)
  • Transportation (pre-, during and post-event)
  • Signage assembly and installation (pre-event)

Stepping into a leadership role is an important way to help learn about how producing the event works, while meeting a bunch of fellow artists on your teams.

If any of these roles sound interesting to you, please fill out the volunteer intake form or email: Volunteers@KindleArts.ca
