Doarch(s) Needed for Fall 2013 Event

Who: Anyone who has had the urge to run this event.
Deadline: Friday, September 13th before 11:59PM
Proposed Event Date: Around the beginning of November
Application: KindleArts Single Day Event Proposal Form

The Kindle Arts Society is looking for one or two visionaries to lead a single-night event this fall!

The board is interested in receiving proposals from potential event leaders to create an event includes the following (however, we love ideas that diverge from our expectations):

  • Single day/night 200-300 capacity Tickets $30 or less
  • Accessible by public transit from Victoria
  • Follows the 10 Principles of Burning Man so it can be an official Decompression
  • Has space to display art pieces
  • Licensed cash bar
  • Could be a variety show, fire show and dance party like Carnivale and Prom Decom in previous years (or could be completely different)

Finding a large, affordable and accommodating venue is a challenge in Victoria, so we particularly like innovative venue ideas.

Submit your initial ideas via the application form by Friday, September 13th. Events are a collaborative process so we don’t expect you to have it all figured out yet.

Some resources:

A decision will be made by September 20 and the selected event lead(s) will be announced shortly thereafter!

Thanks for participating, we’re excited to see what you create!

In dust we trust,
The Kindle Arts Society Board of Directors

What’s a Doarch?
If a monarch is (mon: a variant of “mono-” meaning “single,” or “one” used in the formation of compound words. -arch: a combining form meaning “chief, leader, ruler,” used in the formation of compound words: monarch; matriarch; heresiarch) a single ruler, and an oligarchy is the rule by a few… the Doarch is management by the person (or people) who do stuff! (The KindleArts Constitution requires that all projects be operated on a team-consensus basis, so doarch can refer to the team as a whole, or any person on that team). Apologies to Fletcher for stealing his word. Thanks to Uber for the reminder that the term doarch can be both plural and singular.
